DELTARUNE Fight How to Fight in the Dojo

Commands, Tension Points, and soul-box habits that keep a four-person party alive.

How to Fight

Every session in DELTARUNE Fight ends in the same rectangle: a SOUL, a bullet pattern, and a command bar that still speaks FIGHT / ACT / MAGIC / ITEM / SPARE / DEFEND. The Roblox sandbox copies the official language on purpose. What it does not copy is a long tutorial dummy. The Dojo expects you to already know that the left box on the FIGHT bar is the good one.

This page is that missing dummy. Practice it in Castle Town before you open VERSUS.

Command order in your head

You issue one command per party member, then the box happens.

  1. DEFEND and TP items resolve early. If you need TP for MAGIC, DEFEND is the honest farm.
  2. ACT is how you interact. Kris usually leads it.
  3. MAGIC / SPARE / ITEM sit in the middle of the resolution pile.
  4. FIGHT swings last. A mistimed bar is a wasted slot.

You do not have to memorize engine internals. You have to stop FIGHTing with an empty TP bar when Susie could have Rude Bustered.

FIGHT timing

When you pick FIGHT, a cursor runs the bar. Press Z or K while it is still on the meter. The left box is the strong hit. Late presses are weak. Misses are zeros. This is the same joke as the PC RPG and it still catches Roblox players who mash.

Practice on a trash Dojo enemy, not on the Knight. If you cannot hit the left box five times in a row, you are not ready for the PvP burst conversation.

TP (Tension Points)

TP is the MAGIC battery. Grazing bullets (standing close without eating them) and DEFEND are the clean ways to build it. Panic running in circles builds nothing and eats HP. Rude Buster and IceShock are the two MAGICs people actually talk about in this sandbox. If a spell did nothing, you did not have TP, or you targeted the wrong name in a stacked party.

ACT versus FIGHT

The sandbox will let you delete enemies with damage. It will also let you ACT. Use ACT when you are learning a pattern and do not want to skip the joke. Use FIGHT/MAGIC when you are in Versus or when a boss is clearly a HP sponge. Spare is still on the bar; some fights honor it, some are just damage checks. If SPARE does nothing twice, switch plans.

Reading the soul box

  • Default speed. Shift-slow is reported broken — see controls.
  • Corners are not always safer; many patterns collapse inward.
  • Move less than you think. Over-correcting is the number-one death in comment sections.
  • When the box shrinks, DEFEND next turn. Heroics are for full-size boxes.

If the Knight feels easier than videos from July, that matches player reports of a nerf. Do not learn bad habits on a nerfed pattern and then blame the tier list when it gets reverted. Track that on patch notes.

Party jobs during a fight

  • Kris: ACT or FIGHT, keep turn order sane.
  • Susie: MAGIC when TP is ready, FIGHT otherwise.
  • Ralsei: heal / DEFEND. In PvE he is a god. In Versus he is a target — different page.
  • Noelle: IceShock if you have TP to spare.

Swap extras only after you can do those four jobs. Fun Gang and bosses explain the toys.

A 60-second pre-fight ritual

  1. Confirm keys on a menu, not in the box.
  2. Look at TP before you pick MAGIC.
  3. Name the healer out loud if you are in voice chat.
  4. Decide whether this is a learn fight (ACT/DEFEND) or a win fight (MAGIC/FIGHT).
  5. After a wipe, change one command habit, not the whole roster. The party planner is for roster. This page is for commands.

When Pink arrives, her pattern will still be a soul box. New sprites do not replace this tutorial. Come back here the night Saturday Pink goes live, then lab the pattern in the Dojo like any other enemy.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Castle Town, the Dojo, and Versus nights.

Where do I fight?

The Dojo in Castle Town. Overworld walking is not the combat tutorial.

Why did my spell fail?

Usually no TP, or you targeted the wrong party slot. DEFEND a turn and try MAGIC again.

Is FIGHT required?

No. ACT and SPARE still exist. Versus and long bosses are where timed FIGHT and MAGIC matter most.
